This agency is an architectural practice which specializes in ecological friendly green building and consulting. Established in 1998, the practice has been at the forefront of the green building movement in South Africa and has won a number of international awards in the field of sustainable design.

The use of natural, local materials lends itself to community participation and they have had a modus to support community development and help people to gain access to good quality housing with minimal means. They have held numerous on site workshops to train unskilled labour and owner builders.

Education has formed an integral part of the practice, whilst they are continually updating knowledge through research in the field. The owner has lectured widely at conferences and has held a part time environmental lecturing post at UCT’s department of Architecture. Their staff is encouraged to enrich their knowledge and skills in the environmental field.

INTERNSHIP

They are looking for a talented intern who wants to join their team ASAP. As an intern you will be part of the design team and work on competitions, design concepts and the development of projects in different phases.

• General admin and filing
• Supplier sourcing
• Construction of part of a sandbag wall
• Scanning and sorting of photo archives
• Architectural model building repair
• Graphic work for presentation of architectural designs
• CAD drafting of architectural technical drawings.

REQUIREMENTS

• you’re a strong designer with good technical skills
• you’re a proactive and assertive team player
• you’re able to produce drawings
• you’re proficient in the use of CAD, Revit, SketchUp and Adobe CS
• you speak English
• you’re a student in Architecture
